Responsible Budget Management

Tough budget years require honest leadership. As Finance Committee chair, I've helped deliver stable services and minimal tax increases—even as costs have risen sharply.

Honest budgeting, no surprises.

This year's budget is the most challenging I've seen in eight years on the council. Inflation hit city operations hard—the same way it hit your household. Materials cost more. Contracts cost more. Everything costs more.

As Finance Committee chair, I worked to deliver a budget that maintains the services you rely on while keeping tax increases minimal—less than $10 per year for every 1,000 square feet of home. That's not a talking point; that's the actual number.

The TIF district we've invested in is beginning to mature, which will eventually return revenue to the general fund. But until then, responsible management means making hard choices without gutting services. Nobody gets everything they want in a tight budget year. My job is to make sure the tradeoffs are fair and transparent.

What I'll Fight For

Maintain Essential Services

Protect the services residents depend on—roads, safety, sanitation—even in lean years.

Minimal Tax Impact

Keep property tax increases as low as responsibly possible.

Transparent Tradeoffs

Be honest with residents about budget constraints and the choices we're making.
