Core Issue
Building for Tomorrow
St. Francis has an opportunity to grow thoughtfully. I've supported lakefront development that brings new residents and tax base while listening carefully to neighbor concerns.
Thoughtful growth strengthens our community.
I understand that development is personal. When you've lived somewhere for years, change can feel threatening. I've sat across the table from residents in the neighborhoods closest to these proposals, and I hear them—not just the concerns about traffic and views, but the deeper question of whether new development will feel like it belongs in St. Francis or whether it will tower over the community that's already here. The petition drives and organized feedback from these neighbors deserve real weight, not lip service.
I also take seriously our city's long-term fiscal health. St. Francis has aging infrastructure, fixed costs that don't shrink, and a tax base that needs to grow. The lakefront parcels—including the triangle site—represent some of our best opportunities to add residents and property tax revenue without sprawling into existing neighborhoods. But opportunity doesn't mean a blank check for developers, and growth should happen at a scale that respects the character of the neighborhoods around it.
That's why I have clear expectations for the triangle site: any project must include a significant commercial component in its first phase, and it needs to feel like a natural extension of St. Francis—not something dropped in from a different skyline. Residential-only phasing that pushes commercial space to some future "phase two" is a non-starter for me. The neighbors who will live with this project from day one deserve development that's built at a human scale and delivers on its mixed-use promise from the start, not just on paper. I'll keep pushing for an approach that respects both our fiscal needs and the people who already call this community home.
What I'll Fight For
Lakefront Investment
Continue supporting development that adds housing and tax base on underutilized parcels.
Community Input
Ensure neighbors have a genuine voice before major development votes.
Balanced Growth
Focus density on appropriate sites while protecting established residential character.
